This reissued pattern from Simplicity is a 1960’s jumper that really was simple to sew, as the pattern envelope says. Certain styles need a certain body type. This jumper was definitely not for me. I had actually made it once before, for myself, and it made me look, well….matronly. Let’s just say it was not flattering. A volunteer was needed!
So my sister Michelle volunteered! She chose this fun print. I’ve had this fabric for quite a while, so I’m glad to be putting it to use!
I started this jumper then life happened. I had to take a quick break from sewing to do some babysitting for my cousin.
Baby Break!
Just hanging out with baby Alice….
Lunch time!
Nap time!
Baby break is now over, time to sew!
The straps for the back of this dress have a fun angle cut to them. The angle part buttons in the back, and I LOVE buttons! Don’t even get me started!
Sewing the straps, right sides together, with interfacing. I like to use fusible interfacing so it doesn’t slip. The down side is that more than once I’ve gotten the glue on my iron, ugh.
When you have a zipper that is too long, you can sew across the zipper teeth at the length that you need, but NEVER do this with a metal zipper! Make sure the zipper teeth are plastic.
Once the zipper is sewn you can cut off the excess!
AND, here it is!
Perfect outfit for cruising….
Or giving attitude!
And you throw a cardigan on it, and it’s the perfect jumper for the office!
It’s something that Michelle has now added into her wardrobe that she can wear to work, or out and about. One of the best things about sewing is that you can have a custom, one of a kind outfit. This was a quick sew with a baby break, and was all the way around enjoyable!
As for me, onto the next!
Very cute dress! And I absolutely love the raggedy Ann blanket! And of course sweet baby girl is so precious 💜
That jumper is so Michelle!! Cute model and background pictures❣️Can’t wait to see the next sewing project !
