With “Me Made May” upon me, and May the 4th rapidly approaching, I decided to quickly make a Star Wars themed shirt. I chose this pattern from the 1960’s, and decided to make view B. I thought it would be fun to make a “V” neck shirt. I haven’t done it very often. I picked this pattern because it seemed like something I could make really fast. I had three Star Wars fabrics in my stash to choose from. I decided on this remnant piece that was leftover from a dress I had made for Mia. (See previous blog post “Long Ago In A Galaxy Far, Far Away”.)
I laid the pattern out making sure that I had enough fabric, and that the faces were all right side up!
The front neck facing for the “V” neck was missing. I made my own facing by laying the pattern piece onto a piece of paper, and tracing it. I was hoping it would work.
Got the bust darts sewn and ironed.
I sewed together the front neck facing and the back neck facing and pinned it to see if it would work, SUCCESS!
I sewed the facing on the neck, then the arms. All that was left to do was to hem it.
And then the big day was upon me….
I had a rough night on May 3rd. Sweet Grandma Joyce passed away. Of course I will have a whole other blog post dedicated to her, but for now you get me and my puffy “I’ve been crying” eyes, and a Star Wars shirt.
Then I was off to work! Yes, I have a job, I don’t just sew all day. ( I wish.) I am a Kindergarten Paraprofessional which is a fancy new name for “Teacher’s Aide”. HA! My first job duties are in the cafeteria for breakfast. While there I ran into another Star Wars fan, and had to take a picture with him!
This Star Wars character is in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, for all of you wondering.
Next I went and found my people! My fellow co-workers who dressed up for the event! As you can see from behind me, Michelle’s class was doing a “May The 4th” activity. I like how the Grogu ears line up behind me! HA!
Me and Ellie looking cute and on theme!
And last but certainly not least, me and Tina! She’s so fun and usually themes all of the important days. She’s going to have to keep me on track for the next important theme day!
All of us together! Me looking disheveled, but I work with kindergartners, it’s expected!
It was a fun, fast sew, and is a shirt that I will wear over and over again. I must say this blog shoot was easy too since I did it while I was at work, the ultimate multi tasking!
As for me, onto the next!
Very cute!
Now we can match! 😍
Love it ♥️
Super cute. The V neck looks really nice on you. You should wear them more often.❤️
