I’m finding out that when you have many, many patterns, and are on a quest to sew them all, family starts putting in requests when they have a fun event coming up. I don’t mind, it’s a great way to get some patterns made, and I end up with good pictures of the finished project.
My sister, Michelle, was going to the Winchester Mystery House, and decided that she needed a skirt for the occasion. I already had some spooky “The Shining” fabric in my stash, so I agreed!
Michelle went through my patterns and chose this one. Who wouldn’t want a skirt with pockets?
With all of the sewing that I do, I’ve been so into the projects that I forget to take pictures along the way! Here’s a picture of the nice cup of tea that my husband made me while I was sewing this skirt. I got a picture of the tea, but not the skirt progress….ugh!
But do not fear loyal readers, I’ve been reminding myself to take more pictures, and my sister did a great job getting pictures of her skirt out and about!
I found this strange, old metal button in my button collection. I thought it went perfectly with the fabric. I tried to research it, but could not find any information on it. So this button is itself, a mystery!
Off skirt and sister went to a California tourist must see! And what better time to go than right before Halloween?
Michelle and her boyfriend, Joey “The Butcher”. *insert ominous music here* Time for my readers to use their imaginations, I can’t actually insert music.
He actually was a butcher by profession, but not anymore. I thought the nick-name I had given him when they first started dating was fitting for a scary post. So for the rest of this post, we’re going with his nick-name for effect!
Standing outside of the famous Winchester Mystery House.
What?!? Matching masks?? I actually make masks that match all of the outfits that I have made.
Michelle thought it would be fun for Joey “The Butcher” to match her skirt.
Michelle and skirt looking fabulous, and what is that accessory she’s holding? One of Grandma’s purses? Yep!
If I walked into this room at night I would probably be startled by that statue and scream.
Oh look, more things to scare you at night while on your way to the bathroom. No thanks!
(The statue, not the skirt, ha-ha!)
Were the ghosts of people that were killed by Winchester guns haunting Mrs. Winchester? *more ominous music*
Would weird stair cases confuse the ghosts? *ominous music continues*
I doubt it! Ghosts can go through walls! Those stairs are some stubbed toes waiting to happen! And who was the building inspector on this job?
Also, keeping carved pumpkins inside is a great way to attract not only ghosts, but bugs as well.
Cute child behind a curtain, or evil being that I would drop kick? Either one *insert ominous music* HA!
Whew! Finally a room I can relate to! It doesn’t seem haunted or scary. I wonder if that dress form has a name. The scariest thing about a sewing room is dropping a pin on the floor while barefoot, or having to use the seam ripper! Definitely *insert ominous music* for a dropped pin and seam ripping!
A spooky house, and a spooky themed skirt, now get Joey “The Butcher” and get out of there before the sun goes down! You could get startled, stub a toe, or attract gnats!
Michelle and Joey “The Butcher” made it out alive.
This event project was a great idea! Thanks Michelle, and you’re welcome!
Everyone have a fun and safe Halloween!
As for me, onto the next!
P.S. I like it when, in the comments, you specify if you are related by your user name, ie. Aunt whoever, or Grandma whoever…This blog is based on family and connections, so please feel free to let everyone know who you are, and how you are connected! Who knows, you might be the next one I’m sewing for!
My toes literally curled up when you mentioned dropping a pin on the floor while barefoot!
Everyone loved it! Including the cashier at the gas station! 🖤
Grandma Cyndy to Mia and David:
Loved the story and the pics!! Great skirt for Michelle! Love the matching masks for Michelle and “The Butcher!” 🧡🎃👻
Cousin Tari loves these posts! Look forward to Friday’s! That skirt is sensational on Michelle!
Great themed project from skirt and masks to location along with your commentary of the photo tour. Looking forward to your next installment.
I loved this one…so “scary”…I’ve never been there, but if I ever do, I’ll be needing a scary skirt or top…Uncle John still needs that shirt made from the skeleton fabric you had❤️ I also love that you make the matching masks❤️
Very cool! I did take Jake there a few years ago….but I did t have a scary skirt! Great job, as always!
As always Nicole, lovely skirt & matching masks! Storyline as always, an added bonus 😉
