If you’re a fan of “The Walking Dead”, you’ll enjoy this one for the sights, if not, enjoy the sew!
Michelle knew she was going to Georgia to visit Mia before she moved home, and knew she would be sight seeing in Senoia, the town where the Walking Dead is filmed. Of course she needed a custom dress! She picked out a pattern, and I just happened to have this fabric in my collection.
I laid the pattern out. It was a simple enough dress. Michelle chose view 3 which features short, puffy sleeves. I had made long puffy sleeves before, but not short ones. I would be doing something new.
Marking the darts.
Pinning in the zipper.
In this picture I’m hand stitching down the edge of the back neck facing. The stitch I’m doing I first learned how to do in October of 2021. (See previous blog post, “Wear The White Glasses”.) In that sew the pattern called for a “catch hem stitch”. I had no idea what it was. I looked it up and have been using it in lots of my sews ever since!
Gathering up the puffy sleeves and pinning them into place.
A few more steps, which I didn’t get picture of, and the dress was finished. Off dress and Michelle went!
Lots of things have been filmed in the little town of Senoia, Ga. Of course “The Walking Dead”, but also the movie “Fried Green Tomatoes”, which are the most notable to me. The sidewalks have little placards of everything that has been filmed there.
The Official Walking Dead Museum is also there!
There are plenty of displays and props from the show.
Michelle, modeling her “Michonne” dress in front of Michonne’s clothes from the show.
So much to look at!
The hospital doors from season one.
The downtown is where the scenes from “Woodbury” were filmed. There is also the set of “Alexandria” right down the street.
The walls of “Alexandria”.
A beautiful alleyway, or possible zombie trap, anything is possible.
Walking to “Terminus” or towards the bridge which is featured in the movie “Fried Green Tomatoes”.
No trip to Senoia would be complete without a bite to eat at “Nic & Norman’s”. The restaurant is owned by Greg Nicotereo, the Producer of “The Walking Dead”, and Norman Reedus. Fans of the show know Norman as the one and only Darrell Dixon.
Michelle got lots of compliments on her dress that day! She had lots of fun seeing everything and dressing the part! No “walkers” were spotted that day, and everyone got home safe! (Zombie bite free of course!)
As for me, onto the next!
The perfect dress for the occasion! 🧟♀️
Great dress! Wish I could have visited there too😢 Love the show❤️ This dress with the puffy sleeves looks really flattering on Michelle 😘
Nice job lining up the fabric along the zipper!
