My niece Jenna was going on a vacation to Hawaii, and I offered to make her a dress for the occasion. I sent her pictures of different patterns that I thought fit her style, and she chose this one. We had to coordinate a day for her to come over, get measured, pick fabric, and sew like the wind!
The day had come when Jenna was able to come over. She picked out this sweet pink fabric and I got to work. The dress was a simple halter dress, with a lined bodice. Getting it cut out went fast. Having company while I sew, however, was distracting for me and I kept forgetting to take pictures.
I decided to line the bodice with a lightweight white fabric. Getting it all cut out.
It was time to sew. Since I was distracted by visitors, and trying to get it done so quickly, I have a lapse in pictures. Never the less, here I am top stitching the bodice.
The inner bodice pieces needed to be hand stitched down to the liner.
Hemming it up to the length Jenna chose. That’s the great thing about homemade clothes, you can get exactly what you want!
The dress looked great on Jenna. She did such a good job picking fabric, the color is perfect on her!
All smiles in a custom dress!
