”Family faces are magic mirrors. Looking at people who belong to us, we see the past, present, and future.”~Gail Buckley
When I say I was busy sewing for Christmas, I was not exaggerating! I have been blessed with an explosion of babies in the family, so I decided to make them all bears for Christmas.
After choosing the above pattern, that is from 1993, I got to work choosing fabric for each bear. The pattern only had two pieces so I was able to get them cut out quickly.
The front of each bear had a dart by the ears.
The back of the bears had a cut out dart where the bears bottom would be.
Once I sewed the darts the front and back pieces were ready to be sewn together.
With the front pieces and back pieces sewn together it was time to install the eyes and nose. I bought these safety eyes so they can’t be easily removed.
Once the eyes were in place it was time to install the nose.
I had also bought safety noses as well!
With eyes and noses in place I pinned the front of the bear to the back of the bear with right sides together.
Once they were sewn there was nothing left to do but flip them right side out and stuff them! Now to do it seven times!
And here is the bear line up!
Luka was one of the first to receive his bear.
He was all smiles! The “half and half” bear was a hit!
Next was Connor! His bear was made out of a shirt that belonged to his great grandmother. I had added parts to his farm quilt and had enough fabric to make a bear with!
Sweet Emerson got the patchwork bear. It’s made of all of my past sewing projects.
Conner and Emerson looked adorable lounging by the tree with their bears.
Baby Bert had to take his bear to the park with him! He even pushed his bear down the slide, so his bear had an exciting day!
Baby brother Byron looks so sweet cuddling his bear.
Well if you can count that was five babies and I made seven bears. I haven’t gotten two delivered yet, but I will!
With this baby boom I know next December I’ll have a bunch to sew again. That’s perfectly fine with me though. I love these babies so much, and they are so fun to sew for that the homemade gifts will keep coming!
Now that Christmas is behind us for yet another year, it’s time to think ahead to the new year in front of us. What sewing projects are coming up this year? I don’t even know! I look forward to seeing how it all plays out! So…
As for me, onto the next!
The bears are cute, but all those babies are absolutely adorable❤️
