“Play is really the work of childhood.” ~Fred Rogers
This summer I was working on Monster’s Inc. sews for Alice. I completed this one at the end of summer, but then life got busy and it took me a while to get it in the mail. Then life got busy for Dana, and it took her a while to take pictures of Alice wearing it. THEN I was having technical difficulties with my blog!
So now, I present to you, this amazing pattern from 1975. Someone had written that the neck facing was missing, so I knew going into the sew that I was going to have to get creative with at least one piece of the pattern.

I chose the jump suit pattern for this fabric because I thought that the fabric had an “industrial” vibe. I thought a jump suit might make Alice look like she worked for Monster’s Inc.
I laid the pattern out. The pattern front did not lie, there was no neck facing.

There were lots of other pieces to this jump suit, I had to use scrap pieces to get the sleeves cut out.

This jump suit has a front and back yoke. This is the front yoke pinned to the front jump suit panels.

The back yoke also got sewn into place. I then had to make belt loops. The details on this jump suit pattern were screaming “child of the 70’s” to me.

I zig zag stitched the seams to prevent fraying, and pinned the front and back pieces together at the shoulders.

Now for that pesky missing neck facing. I used the back yoke pattern and traced the slope of it onto a piece of paper. I then made the paper pattern as long and wide as it needed to be to fit into place with the front facings.
Sewn all together, it looked right to me.

It pinned into place correctly too!

The jump suit zips up the front, lucky for me I just so happened to have the right size zipper in a matching color. The zipper is also vintage, perhaps it is from the 70’s like the pattern.

The zipper is in place, my sewing room is a mess, time to sew up the legs and hem it!

As you can see Alice loved it!

You can see another very “70’s” design element with the large collar. I like the look, but then again, I like things from the 70’s. (Like myself, HA!)

Alice chose her yellow rain boots to wear with her jump suit. I think it was a perfect choice!

The legs are a little long for her, but she can grow into it. It will give her more opportunities to get use out of her jumpsuit.

Hard at work, or play!

She was just so cute in it I had a hard time cutting pictures! Must be hard work playing with rocks!

Oh, and did you notice her bow? Since Alice now likes to wear a bow occasionally I thought that I would make one to match every outfit that she gets made from me.

Alice looked adorable in her jump suit, and she can work hard at playing in it!
I like the 70’s look of it, but with modern fabric it didn’t look too dated. She got compliments on her outfit while she was out doing her photo shoot, which is always nice to hear.
After a hard day of working at doing a photo shoot, and playing, it was time for an ice cold drink!

As for me, onto the next!
So darn cute❣️ It was worth the wait…lol !Alice looks adorable in it❤️❤️❤️
Another great make! Alice looks so sweet in her new outfit, especially with her co-ordinating yellow boots, what style she has!!
