New Dress, New Experiences

Since it’s summer vacation for me I thought that I would be getting a lot more sewing done. In some ways I have. I’ve made cross body bags for my coworkers in between, and I have lots of coworkers! I still can’t seem to keep up a blog post a week. That’s just life I guess, sometimes you have time to sew, and sometimes you drive across the US, then up and down the state of California to get Mia settled. Either way I still keep moving forward.

My next forward step was this dress from 1969, for Mia. A new job and new place to live = some new clothes to adventure in!

Someone had pinned a note on the instructions. Although it didn’t apply to my sew, I decided to keep it there.

Now to work on the collar. right sides all pinned together with one piece interfaced. The blue chalk is marking the sew line for the cut out design on the collar.

Collar all sewn on. Clipping the inside seam like this helps it to lay correctly.

Fabric got bunched up and a little fold got sewn. Time for the seam ripper and a redo!

Mia chose these vintage pink buttons for her dress. I decided to sew them on with pink thread to match them.

A quick hem and Mia’s new dress was finished!

The buttons are just perfect! They match her hair scarf, which was one of Grandpa Bert’s neck scarves he wore when square dancing.

I think Mia’s new dress is perfect for any occasion. I think vintage styles always look classy and fun! I hope Mia has many exciting and fun adventures in her new place, and in her new dress!

I really do enjoy making personalized outfits for the people I love, I guess each sew is my new adventure!
